PowerNet Global Chooses Veraz's VoIP Solution to Deploy IP-Based Voice Network For Nationwide Long Distance Services

Tuesday November 18, 10:00 am ET

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 2003--Veraz Networks announced PowerNet Global, an integrated communications provider, has selected Veraz's Packet Telephony Solution for its IP-based voice network in 11 U.S. cities to better serve PowerNet Global's growing subscriber base. The Veraz ControlSwitch, an open softswitch platform, and 50,000 ports of Veraz's I-Gate 4000 media gateways seamlessly connect the new VoIP network to the traditional PSTN at key locations throughout the U.S. This enables PowerNet Global to enhance its long distance reseller business in key markets with a powerful facilities based long distance network.

"As we increased our service offerings to our customer base, our network needs were growing, too. We required a field-proven next-generation network solution to provide emerging services to our existing base and attract new customers, a combination only Veraz could offer," said Bernie Stevens, CEO, PowerNet Global. "Veraz's successful track record gave us confidence to rapidly deploy our network to our customer base, and their well-earned reputation for customer focus made Veraz the right long-term choice for us."

PowerNet's fully distributed VoIP network communicates seamlessly with the PSTN and peers with carrier VoIP networks. PowerNet required a flexible and open solution that could support existing and next-generation protocols such as MGCP, SS7, PRI, CAS, H.323 and SIP. With this new network, PowerNet will benefit from Veraz's carrier-grade, open and flexible architecture featured in its ControlSwitch as well as leveraging Veraz's in-house DSP technology present in its I-Gate 4000 and the I-Gate Pro media gateways. PowerNet will also benefit from FCAPS management of the Veraz solution via its centralized management system and powerful GUI interface that results in efficient network-wide operation. With such a powerful and efficient solution, PowerNet can enter new markets quickly and cost effectively without the constraints of traditional networks.

"PowerNet is familiar with our capabilities to rapidly deploy new voice networks and we are thrilled they selected Veraz to help support the ongoing needs of their growing base," said Tal Simchony, CEO, Veraz Networks. "We are helping our customers deploy new voice networks at a rapid pace to fit their growing and future needs, and recognizing their concerns and demands to be a competitive player in the expanding and profitable VoIP market."
