CINCINNATI (February 14, 2003) -- PowerNet Global Communications, an integrated communications provider, has been selected by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to offer long distance and Internet services to supporters nationwide. For every MADD supporter that signs up for long distance or Internet service MADD will receive 10% of the revenue. Any individual or qualifying organization can designate MADD as its charity of choice when signing up with PowerNet in order to contribute to MADD's mission. The State Fireman's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas have already signed-on. PowerNet Global will be seeking to bring on board other local and state police and fire departments to benefit MADD.
"This partnership provides a cost-effective way for MADD supporters to save money on their phone services, while contributing to MADD's mission,” says Wendy J. Hamilton, MADD national president. “With more than 17,000 deaths and half a million injuries from alcohol-related traffic crashes each year, as well as the devastating impact alcohol is having on our young people, the societal cost of these tragedies is in the billions. MADD's partnerships allow us to strengthen our programs, policy efforts and victim services — the foundation of MADD success that has already helped to save about 250,000 people in 22 years.”
PowerNet Global's services will be marketed through both organizations' strong relationships with local fire and police departments and benevolence groups, as well as through print ads, direct mail, and in the media. Any individual wishing to support MADD, can sign-up for PowerNet's services by calling 866-515-MADD (6233). For organizations that wish to participate in the program to raise money for their group while supporting MADD, contact Dr. Joseph Aguilar at 469-575-0220.
Lee Wilson, Vice President of Affinity Sales for PowerNet Global, adds, "We're honored to support MADD's mission through our Affinity Program. MADD has made great strides in preventing alcohol-related deaths and we're excited to help keep that momentum going, while rewarding their supporters with our proven money-saving services."
